About Whitehall

Whitehall is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the big city to exude a mood of serenity—a quiet, caring community where residents enjoy the natural surroundings, visit often with their neighbors and bask in the pastoral peacefulness of a quiet but vibrant area of fast-growing Dorchester County.
Whitehall also is close enough to North Charleston to offer its residents the convenience of nearby shopping, entertainment, restaurants and schools.
Charleston International Airport and Charleston Air Force Base are within shouting distance, and nearby Interstate-26 provides a quick and easy way to reach points west, historic downtown Charleston, or, by way of Interstate-526, Mount Pleasant and the beaches at Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms.
Located just more than a mile north of the intersection of Dorchester Road and Ashley Phosphate Road, Whitehall consists of eight distinct neighborhoods. Construction started in the early 1990s and is nearing completion on the few remaining lots in River Bluff.
The newest and largest homes in Whitehall, many of them still under construction, are in a separately governed, adjoining neighborhood, The Refuge, where wooded lots and unspoiled views of pristine ponds and marshland teeming with nature’s bounty are the norm.
There are homes in Whitehall to fit almost every budget. Those currently offered for sale range from a 1,718-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath house in The Vineyard with an asking price of $187,000 to a 3,500-square-foot, five-bedroom, four-bath house on a pond in The Refuge selling for $589,000.
All residents may join and enjoy Whitehall’s recreational amenities, which include a soccer field, a community pool, a children's play area, and tennis courts.
Many homes are mandatory members of the Amenity Association through existing member ship agreements. Regardless of which Whitehall neighborhood you choose, you will reap the benefits of the subdivision’s rural feel, central location and, most important, its proximity to some of the area's best schools. Whitehall’s younger residents attend Fort Dorchester Elementary School, Oakbrook Middle School or Fort Dorchester High School, all located in Dorchester District Two, one of the top school districts in the Lowcountry. The ninth largest school district in South Carolina, Dorchester Two serves 18,334 students at nine elementary schools, five middle schools and two high schools. The district’s building program is proof that the area is growing: four more schools are currently under construction.
